Description: Shillong Cantonment Board has informed the public that certain repair and maintenance works on authorized buildings within Cantonment areas can be carried out without obtaining prior sanction for erection or re-erection under Section 235 of the Cantonment Act, 2006. The exempted works include internal partition walls, parapet walls and chajjas within permissible limits, staircase repairs, whitewashing, painting, reflooring, minor roof repairs, false ceilings, plastering, internal doors and windows, replacement of fallen bricks or stones, plumbing and sanitary repairs, boundary wall repairs, and installation of air conditioners, water tanks, solar panels, and solar water heaters. This notification has been issued in accordance with the Ministry of Defence and DGDE guidelines to facilitate routine maintenance and ensure structural safety of authorized buildings in Cantonment areas.
