JOB DESCRIPTION – PROCUREMENT HEAD (CONSTRUCTION / CONTRACTOR COMPANY) Position: Head – Procurement Industry: Construction / Contracting Experience: Minimum 15+ years in construction procurement (Contractor Company) Key Responsibilities Strategic Procurement & Planning Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the company’s business goals. Ensure cost-effective, timely, and quality procurement of materials and services. Plan long-term sourcing strategies to support ongoing and upcoming projects. Vendor Management & Networking Maintain strong contacts with service vendors and contractors, including: BBS suppliers Carpenters Shuttering contractors Other construction-related service vendors Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and onboard new vendors and subcontractors. Build long-term relationships to ensure competitive pricing and reliable supply. Materials & Services Procurement Oversee procurement of construction materials, tools, equipment, and services. Ensure timely availability of materials at project sites as per construction schedules. Monitor quality standards and compliance with project requirements. Cost Control & Negotiation Lead price negotiations, contract finalization, and rate approvals. Achieve cost savings through strategic sourcing and bulk negotiations. Monitor market trends, price fluctuations, and availability of materials. Compliance & Coordination Ensure procurement processes comply with company policies and legal requirements. Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Planning, Accounts, and Site Teams. Ensure proper documentation, PO management, and vendor billing coordination. Team Leadership Lead and mentor the procurement team. Set performance goals and ensure efficient functioning of the procurement department. Key Skills & Competencies Strong negotiation and vendor management skills Excellent knowledge of construction materials and services Strategic thinking and cost optimization expertise Strong communication and leadership abilities Ability to work under tight timelines and multiple project demands Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Supply Chain / Management (preferred) Minimum 10+ years of experience in procurement within a construction contractor company Civil engineering background is an added advantage.
