Linux/Network Engineer (hosting platform, Proxmox/KVM, WHMCS/HostBill)
We're developing a hosting platform (VPS + VPN infrastructure) that already serves several thousand users and is rapidly growing. We're looking for an engineer to handle the technical aspects of platform maintenance, development, and optimization.
We need a person who can:
understand the current scheme,
stabilize and improve infrastructure,
offer your tools, approaches and practices,
help the platform scale.
We are open to the experience of a specialist - you do not need to know all our current tools, you can bring your own if they are better.
What needs to be done
Support and development of virtualization
Working with different virtualization platforms.
Management of hosts, pools, resources.
Working with VM templates, cloud-init, virtual machine network.
Optimization of hardware usage.
Network support
Configuring routing, VLAN, firewall.
Network problem diagnostics (ping, traceroute, tcpdump, iproute2, etc.).
Monitoring the stability and availability of nodes.
Support for subnets and IP pools, work with providers.
Integration with billing
(If you don't have experience, we'll train you; this isn't a critical requirement)
WHMCS / HostBill or similar panels.
Automated VPS provisioning, module troubleshooting.
Support of the service life cycle (creation/suspend/termination).
Working with iron
Basic knowledge of server hardware.
Understanding the principles of IPMI, RAID, network cards.
Interaction with data centers (remote hands).
Monitoring and stability
Setting up logging, metrics, and alerts.
Troubleshooting incidents, root cause analysis, prevention of recurrence.
What we expect
Linux
Confident work in Debian-like systems.
Understanding systemd, networking, and how services work.
Experience in diagnosing performance and network issues.
Net
Understanding basic networking principles: ARP, DHCP, MTU, VLAN.
Ability to work with IP, IP route, IP link, nftables/iptables, tcpdump.
OSPF/BGP experience is a plus, but not required.
Virtualization
Proxmox / KVM / OpenStack or any other hypervisor.
Understanding the basic principles of virtualization.
Soft skills
Teamwork.
Willingness to understand the existing system.
