Lead Backend Engineer - Java & Azure Cloud (Hybrid) Cognizant•New Jersey, New Jersey• About the role As Lead/Architect , you will make an impact by designing, developing, and deploying enterprise-grade backend applications using Java 8+/Java 17 , Spring Boot, and Microservices . You will be a valued member of the Engineering & Cloud Solutions team and work collaboratively with architects, DevOps engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality, secure, and efficient solutions. In this role, you will: · Lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise-grade backend applications using Java 8+/Java 17, Spring Boot, and Microservices. · Architect and implement cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. · Design and optimize data access layers using Oracle, SQL Server, and/or NoSQL databases. · Manage containerized applications using Docker and orchestrate deployments on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). · Implement and maintain infrastructure using Terraform for Azure resources. · Define and enforce best practices for API design, microservices orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines. · Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, QA, and Product to deliver high-quality solutions. · Mentor junior developers and contribute to technical leadership and architectural decisions. · Ensure compliance with enterprise security, performance, and governance standards. What you need to have to be considered: · 8+ years of experience in backend development using Java/J2EE. · Strong proficiency in Java 8+, Java 17, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture. · Hands-on experience with Azure Cloud services, including AKS, App Services, Functions, and Storage. · Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, and/or NoSQL databases. · Proficiency in Docker and container orchestration on Azure. Salary and compensation: The annual salary for this position will be between $81,337 to $163,000 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
