This role is responsible for ensuring that all bridge and tunnel designs are technically robust, authority-compliant, commercially efficient, and fully integrated within broader infrastructure, transport, and master planning frameworks. The role ensures that design outcomes align with development objectives, delivery programmes, regulatory requirements, and long-term asset performance considerations. • Lead design management of bridges, tunnels, and related structures across all project stages (concept to as-built). • Define and manage technical requirements, design criteria, and performance standards. • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and buildable solutions. • Review and manage consultant deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance. • Engage with consultants, advisors, and contractors to align scope and programme. • Oversee design lifecycle to meet schedules, budgets, and milestones. • Review and optimise designs for constructability, cost efficiency, and durability. • Lead value engineering and design optimisation initiatives. • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and authority requirements. • Support tender preparation, technical scopes, and evaluations. • Manage authority submissions, approvals, and stakeholder coordination. • Identify design risks and implement mitigation strategies. • Embed HSE considerations throughout design and construction interfaces. • Provide technical support during construction (RFIs, clarifications, changes). • Prepare progress reports, technical updates, and recommendations. • Monitor industry trends and recommend innovative design and construction solutions.
