The Telangana government has decided to transfer post-matric scholarships directly to the bank accounts of eligible students from the 2026-27 academic year.Both the Reimbursement of Tuition Fee (RTF) and Maintenance Fee (MTF) schemes will be covered under initiative. Under the existing arrangement, scholarship amounts are transferred to educational institutions. The new mechanism will instead send the funds directly to students.Direct Benefit Transfer system introduced As per the orders issued by the Social Welfare Department on June 6, the initiative aims to make scholarship distribution more efficient, transparent, and student-friendly. Under the initiative, the scholarships will be released through a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system using the Aadhaar Payment Bridge System (APBS). The amount will be credited to the student’s Aadhaar-linked bank account. Students will then pay the required fees to their educational institutions.
