Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that the first section of the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train project is expected to be inaugurated in 2027. He stated that nearly 80% of the project has been completed. According to the Minister, the project will be completed in phases. After the opening of the first section, the Vapi–Surat, Vapi–Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad–Thane, and finally the Ahmedabad–Mumbai sections will be completed sequentially, bringing India's first high-speed rail corridor closer to full operation.
