The mysterious blast incident that severely damaged a house in Saroornagar on Monday is suspected to have been caused by a lamp in the puja room igniting LPG from an incorrectly switched off stove, the Saroornagar police said following a preliminary investigation. The incident occurred at the residence of D. Devendra, who had gone out his wife and son were inside. His daughter-in-law and grandson, who also stayed with them, were not present.
According to police, Devendra’s wife finished cooking but reportedly did not completely turn off the stove, which led to the LPG leak gradually spreading through the house. After some time, she entered the puja room and lit a lamp. Investigators suspect the accumulated gas ignited instantly, resulting in a powerful pressure wave that caused extensive structural damage. Hearing the loud sound, Devendra's wife and son rushed out of the house unharmed. Devendra returned shortly afterwards, alerted the police and emergency services. Officials from the fire department, HYDRAA, the LPG gas agency and the Clues Team inspected the scene.
